Record a product demo on macOS
A practical Mac setup for product videos: region capture, automatic zoom, studio frame, voiceover after the take, and 9:16 export with Screenrecplus. $25 once.
Meeting recorders capture everything. Product videos need a framed rectangle, a readable cursor, and a voice that matches the picture. This is the setup we use on macOS 15.
Before you hit Record
Pick the display. If the demo is a single window, use Area and drag the region. Turn on microphone if you will talk live. Turn on system audio if the product makes sound. Webcam is optional picture-in-picture.
During the take
Move with intent. Clicks become zooms later, so do not thrash the pointer. Stop from the menu bar or the floating button. The file lands in Movies/Screenrecplus.
After the take
Open the recording. Let automatic zoom run, then fix the ones that miss. Split at the playhead, cut the dead air. Record a voiceover against the picture if the live mic was messy. Switch aspect to 9:16 if this is a short. Export with the license key.
Deep dive: automatic zoom.
